Artificial Recharge (AR), which is also referred to Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR), refers to the process of pumping from one water supply source, usually a surface water supply, and applying that water to an aquifer, either through recharge basins or injection wells, for storage and later use.

This class will present the concept of artificial recharge of groundwater supplies with nearby surface water supplies, concentrating on its use in unconfined aquifers. The concepts will be demonstrated by discussing several case studies.
